Flooring Replacement service in the Greater Toronto Area by Restoration Services GTA

Flooring Replacement Across the GTA

Floors take the brunt of a water loss. Water runs downhill and pools at the lowest point, soaking into hardwood, swelling laminate, lifting tile, and saturating the subfloor and the padding underneath. Some flooring can be dried and saved; some has to be replaced, and knowing the difference is what a proper assessment provides.

Restoration Services GTA restores and replaces flooring as part of full property restoration across the Greater Toronto Area. We assess and dry the subfloor, replace what cannot be saved, and install new hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank, tile, or carpet to return the space to pre-loss condition.

Dry What You Can, Replace What You Must

Not every wet floor needs to be torn out, and not every dry-looking floor is actually fine. The subfloor beneath the finished surface holds moisture that a quick look misses, which is why we measure before we decide.

  • Solid hardwood can sometimes be dried and refinished if caught early.
  • Laminate and engineered products usually swell and have to be replaced.
  • The subfloor and padding hold hidden moisture that feeds mould.
  • Replacing without drying the subfloor traps moisture under the new floor.

The subfloor is the part that matters most

A new finished floor installed over a subfloor that is still wet will cup, smell, or grow mould. We dry and verify the subfloor first, every time, before anything new goes down.

How It Works

Our Flooring Replacement Process

We work from the subfloor up, so the finished floor lasts instead of failing a season later:

01

Assess and measure moisture

We check the finished floor, the subfloor, and the padding with moisture meters to determine what can be dried and what has to be removed.

02

Remove and dry

Unsalvageable flooring and wet padding are removed and documented, and the subfloor is dried to a verified standard with commercial equipment.

03

Prepare the subfloor

We repair or replace damaged subfloor sections and level and prepare the surface so the new flooring sits flat and lasts.

04

Install and finish

New flooring is installed to match the space, with transitions, trim, and baseboards finished so the result looks like the rest of the home.

Flooring Replacement and Your Insurance Claim

When flooring is damaged in a covered water loss, drying, removal, and replacement to pre-loss condition are normally part of that claim. Matching material and the finer coverage details depend on your policy.

We document the damage, the drying, and the replacement to insurer standards and bill your carrier directly where coverage applies, coordinating the flooring with the rest of the restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my hardwood floor be saved after a flood?

Sometimes. Solid hardwood caught early can occasionally be dried and refinished, while laminate and engineered floors usually swell and need replacing. We measure moisture before deciding.

Why do you check the subfloor?

Because the subfloor and padding hold moisture you cannot see. Installing new flooring over a wet subfloor traps that moisture and leads to cupping, odour, or mould.

Do you match the existing flooring?

We install new flooring to match the space as closely as possible and finish the transitions, trim, and baseboards so the repair blends in.

Is flooring replacement covered by insurance?

When it results from a covered loss, drying and replacement to pre-loss condition are normally included. We document and bill it directly to your insurer.

Do you handle the drying and the new floor?

Yes. We dry the structure, prepare the subfloor, and install the new flooring as one job, so there is one accountable team from mitigation to finished floor.
